- How do I get free shipping in Sonoma County?
If you would like complementary delivery and you live in or are traveling to Sonoma County, please specify FREE DELIVERY during checkout. Free delivery is only available in Sonama County, CA.

- What is the shelf life of your truffles?
We use fresh cream and no preservatives, so we recommend indulging within a week of receiving your package of truffles. Their freshness is part of what makes them special and contributes to each truffle's intense flavors.
- Should your products be refrigerated or frozen?
We do not recommend refrigerating or freezing our products. The moisture, temperature, and odors in the refrigerator will adversely affect their flavor and textures.
- What does free shipping mean?
Customers spending more than $100 receive complimentary standard shipping. Summer handling fees still apply.
- What are your shipping guidelines?
We make all of our truffles in small batches and ship within seven days of receiving orders.
All orders are sent via USPS Priority Mail. Priority mail generally takes between one and three days, depending on your location. If you require an earlier delivery, please upgrade to Express Mail(additional fees apply). Your package is guaranteed to arrive the day after it ships. Delivery is usually before 11:00am.
Warm weather policy
Our delicate chocolate truffles are made of the freshest ingredients and are very susceptible changes due to temperature and weather fluctuations. Ideally they should be stored between 52°F to 72°F. Therefore, we must take additional steps to insure product freshness. For products shipped from May through October special packaging may be used to prevent damage and protect your order. A $7 fee will be added to these orders for the added cost of special protective packaging. During the rest of the year we will use the most appropriate and reasonable shipping option available depending on transit times and temperatures.We will make every effort to ensure that your order arrives in perfect condition. We suggest shipping your chocolates to a business address if possible to ensure your package arrives safely and can be signed for on the first delivery attempt. We require a signature for purchases totaling more than $100. Salt Side Down Chocolates will not refund purchases if the product is damaged or melted after the first delivery attempt or if it is returned to us by the USPS. Packages may be left without a signature if no one will be there to sign for it. Salt Side Down Chocolates is not responsible for packages stolen or damaged after they are delivered to the address specified by the customer.
If you have a highly time-sensitive order, please indicate this in the special instructions. For holiday orders, our website will provide guidelines on order deadlines to ensure guaranteed delivery prior to the holiday. If your order must be received by a specific date, please include this information in "Special Instructions/Comments About Your Order" during check out.
- What form of payments do we accept?
Through our partnership with PayPal, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover,
Diners, and PayPal payments. We are verified PayPal participants. Our verification is viewable here.
You do not need a PayPal account to purchase from us. - What are the ingredients in your truffles?
We use 72% E. Guittard Chocolate - "Coucher du Soleil" (Sunset) Bittersweet Dark Chocolate (contains: CocoaCacao beans, pure cane sugar, cocoa butter, soya lecithin, vanilla beans. GMO Free; Allergen information here.pdf, fresh Clover Cream, fresh Clover Butter, naturally brewed premium soy sauce (ingredients: water, soybeans, salt, alcohol, organic wheat. Allergen Information: contains soy and wheat ingredients), red wine (can contain sulfates), Guittard Cocoa Powder (A red-tone Dutch-process cocoa powder. pH: 7.1-7.5. Fat: 22-24%. Kosher-Dairy) sea salt (either Maldon, Grey Sea Salt, or one of these).
- Is there alcohol in your truffles?
We use a reduction of alcohol such as wine, brandy, and scotch to add a depth of flavor to our truffles. The process of reducing our ingredients evaporates liquid, including alcohol. Since alcohol has a much lower boiling point than water (65°C vs 100°C), much much more alcohol is removed when compared to our other ingredients (it evaporates first). So, we can safely say that our truffles are mostly free of alcohol (something like 99.9% alcohol free).
